News Release: February 27, 2018
Goodwill Industries of Southwestern Michigan’s mission is to improve the community by providing education, employment, training and support services tailored to individual needs. Our efforts are long term with individuals and families moving them towards self-sufficiency. Though the American Red Cross is the primary emergency relief agency, Goodwill is available to help with clothing, household goods and furniture in severe widespread emergency situations. As flooding in our market area is a widespread EMERGENCY, the following procedure is being put in place for FLOOD VICTIMS ONLY:
NO REFERRING AGENCY IS NECESSARY. Persons who are victims of flooding and interested in assistance from Goodwill need only come to a store or call 269-382-0490 x 212. Store management will ask to see your identification, write down your name and address and send it to the main office where a $100 voucher for donated goods will be generated for you to use at that store location before March 30, 2018. Each address is limited to one voucher. The voucher will be good for one shopping trip only.
We anticipate the most need in furniture which is also presently in short supply. We don’t have the manpower for furniture pickups, so if you want to help, we ask that you donate to our main processing facility at 420 East Alcott off Portage Street in Kalamazoo County and our store locations in surrounding counties.
