Workers on Wheels

Workers on Wheels is a program designed to solve the problem of transportation for those seeking employment. This also provides a solution to employers that cannot find enough employees. The biggest barrier to employment is transportation, simply put, those that want to work are unable to. The average commute time to work in Southwest Michigan is roughly 24 minutes and during the winter its even longer. Let's get people working, donate your car today!

Halloween is getting close, dear readers! So this week we’ll be making some creepy decorations to get you in that holiday spirit!

This week we made some Spooky Spellbooks that will make any home look like a witch’s lair! For this simple craft you’ll need: A couple old books, paint, decorating tidbits (whatever you can think of!), and your trusty hot glue gun.

The first thing we did was give our book a coat of black paint. You can apply this however you wish, but we did find a foam roller to be the simplest method.

We used foam letters for one of our books, but you can always hand paint them. While waiting for the paint to dry on the book, we went ahead and painted our foam letters.

Next, we used the hot glue gun to add some oozy effects to our book.

After the glue drips cool, add a silvery sheen to them by lightly painting them.

Then it’s time to add your letters and other creepy accents! In addition to our letters, we used plastic spiders and ribbon, but you can use anything (buttons, moss, dead leaves) to give it a worn and creepy vibe.

You can even use your glue gun to get a bit more creative! We crafted a second book and gave it a spooky spider web with our hot glue.

Happy Crafting!
