Life Guides Requirements

PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS

The Life Guides program seeks families that have shown a commitment to making changes on their own to benefit their future. Our participating families need emotional support, guidance, and accountability to help them reach their goals. Families should be somewhat stabilized, yet benefit from a supportive partnership. Our program offers consistent agency support as we partner with them on their personal journey.

REQUIREMENTS

Residence

Families must reside in Kalamazoo or Allegan County.

Children

Families must have a child currently between the ages of 0-3.

Federal Poverty Level

Families must be at or below 200% of Federal Poverty Level (FLP) for their family size.

Attend Monthly Meetings

Families must attend monthly meeting with their Life Guide, group meetings, and support service appointments.

Commitment

Families must be committed to setting and meeting their goals throughout their children's journey to adulthood.

NOMINATION PROCESS

Nomination Form

ONLY a community agency can fill out a Nomination Form.

Meet and Greet

The family will meet with a Life Guides staff member.

Review

The staff and family will then determine if this program is a good fit.

I am a single-parent with a two and a half year old daughter. I would like to increase support for myself and my daughter. I will really benefit from developing a social group on whom I can rely on.

My goal is to make my house a home and make sure that my children all attend and graduate from college

I am a mother of five children. I was told my family has strength and persistence. We work well together and I have the desire to improve my family’s circumstances and make education a priority.
