When you donate to Goodwill of Southwestern Michigan roughly 92% of every dollar generated is put into our programs. Programs like Life Guides where we make a 20-year commitment to mentor and assist families so they can escape a life of extreme poverty. Other life-changing programs include Adult Education, Job Development, Forklift Certification, Computer Education classes in partnership with Google, etc. Other services we offer include legal paperwork navigation, bus tokens, among other support services.
We offer a donation pickup service for large donations and when donating your vehicle. If you’d like to request a pickup please meet these requirements or contact us for special circumstances.
Want to help, but don’t have anything to donate? That’s okay! Here are some other great ways you can make an impact to those in your community.
Hands down, the best thing to donate is your time! We have volunteer applications available to those interested. First, you’ll meet with us to figure out the area you’re needed most. Then you’re off to orientation to get the same training we do, and finally, you begin improving the lives of those in your community!
We couldn’t do what we do without donations. Not everyone has “stuff” to donate but you may still want to support what we do. Donating ANY amount of money is a tremendous help to those in our programs. This allows us to provide the best wrap-around services to ensure the best outcomes are achieved.
You can be an advocate for what we do! There are many inaccurate statements and stories made about what we do that circulate social media and other social settings. Getting the facts out there can be the difference between someone getting or not getting their GED or escaping poverty!
All of our thrift stores are also donation centers, we also have a location that is strictly donations. Whichever one you’re closer to, just show up and a donation attendant will help you with your items! We will then provide you with a receipt if desired.
You can donate electronics (if they’re not sellable we will recycle them via our partnership with Dell), we also accept home goods, clothing, shoes, furniture, and a bunch of other things! Check out our list above to see the full details.
Yes, as long as you live within our pickup areas listed above. Car donations are different – we will travel almost anywhere to pick up the car you’re donating!
We accept donations at any one of our retail locations, at our donation center in Saugatuck, or at our Headquarters in Kalamazoo.
We can’t accept tube TV’s, but we do accept LCD, LED, and Plasma Screen TV’s!
Yes! We love books! Some of our locations are known for their book selection!
Pillows fall under the category of mattresses. We’re unable to accept either.
50% off sales at least once a month, then there’s the random sale we give our community members (possibly you?) a head’s up on!
